New legislation for wine labelling

After 8 December 2023, wines sold in the EU must contain detailed information.

Allergens and intolerances must be visibly present on the product or physically attached to it. Some other mandatory information, such as ingredients, can be optionally displayed using "electronic methods", such as QR codes. According to the law, non-compliant wine must be taken off the market and fines can be imposed.

The upcoming regulations for the labelling of wine products are laid down under Regulation (EU) 2021/2117.
